Not everything I do is game-related. In fact, by an absolute time measure, rather the majority of what I do isn't making my own games. When I'm busy not making my own games, here are a few things I might also be doing.

Particularly with the advent of Nesglovphone and a broader selection of chiptune arrangements, I have found the rationale to create and maintain a YouTube channel. It doesn't have any single focus; there's a bit of music, games, Buggy videos, parody, etc. but generally all stuff I have created from scratch in response to various whims.

It's not uncommon to start a webcomic recreationally. Maitaintaining that webcomic creation is a recreational activity 5 years in, when one is not even an artist, is considerably more taxing on the imagination. The strip dropped into an unfortunate but decisive hiatus around life chaos a few years ago, although I would still like to finish out the plot and have been considering alternate media in which to do so. The archive represents half a decade of very few missed updates, and none which weren't announced well ahead of time and plugged with filler of some form.

Okay, this is game-related. Game-making-related, even. But in reality it's such a far cry from the trenches that I can't legitimately put it with the other software. Scratch is a completely free, platform-independent interactive media teaching tool, targetted at and populated by predominantly gradeschoolers. It is, however, a far faster platform for developing ideas and getting quick feedback than doing full prototypes in "real" languages. And if I can expose kids to more advanced programming concepts while giving MIT a debugging headache, why not?

Engineer's Motto: If it ain't broke, take it apart and fix it. Nerf guns are fun right out of the box, but with a few tools and a little engineering know-how, you can at very least defeat the limiter mechanisms Hasbro builds in. If you're willing to do more serious damage to the weapon, the sky's the limit. I've heard tales of electrified, pneumattified repeaters clocking over 100 rounds per minute...
